Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Asish Kumar Saha has accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using the celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram as a political tactic to divert attention from growing protests against the government.
Saha made these remarks following an organizational meeting at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan on Sunday. He criticized the BJP for following the path of the Hindu Mahasabha and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that they were not involved in the freedom struggle and even collaborated with the British.
According to Saha, the BJP’s celebration of 150 years of Vande Mataram is an attempt to divide the people and distract from issues such as rising unemployment and economic instability.
“We strongly protest and condemn such acts. By disrespecting leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi, the BJP is dishonoring the spirit of the freedom movement,” Saha said.
He emphasized the importance of honoring the contributions of figures like Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay to the freedom struggle and criticized the BJP for using Vande Mataram as a political weapon.
Saha also highlighted the need for the Congress party to strengthen its organization by forming booth committees by December 31. He expressed confidence that party leaders would work diligently to achieve this goal.
In conclusion, Saha reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to protecting democratic and constitutional rights and standing against divisive politics. He urged party members to continue protesting against the government’s actions and to uphold the values of unity and respect for all.
