Tripura has taken significant steps towards improving healthcare facilities at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govinda Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital, showcasing its dedication to enhancing medical services for its residents.
During a recent meeting of the governing body of the Rogi Kalyan Samity (RKS) at the AGMC Council Hall on August 25, a number of crucial decisions were made to benefit patients.
One of the key decisions was the introduction of new counters to provide free diagnostic services to eligible patients under various categories such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Priority Group, Antyodaya, and BPL. This initiative aims to make healthcare services more accessible and affordable for those in need.
Additionally, plans were approved to upgrade the central laboratory at AGMC with state-of-the-art testing facilities to enhance the quality of diagnostics.
In order to ensure the availability of essential medicines, funds from the National Health Mission (NHM) will be utilized to procure medications for the Trauma Care Emergency and Pediatric Department.
To promote transparency and gather feedback from patients, complaint and suggestion boxes will be installed throughout the hospital premises. This will allow patients and their families to share their experiences and suggestions for improvement.
Furthermore, ten civil service volunteers will be stationed at the “May I Help You” desk of AGMC to assist patients and their attendants with any queries or concerns they may have.
The meeting was chaired by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, who serves as the Chairperson of the Rogi Kalyan Samity. Other attendees included Vice-Chairman Dr. Ashok Sinha, members Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Hiralal Debnath, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, GBP Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, and AGMC Principal Dr. Anup Kumar Saha.
These initiatives reflect Tripura’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services to its citizens and ensuring their well-being remains a top priority.
