A horrific incident of gangrape has shaken the residents of Tripura’s Gomati district, as a young girl was allegedly assaulted inside a moving vehicle by two of her companions. The incident took place near Udaipur railway station, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
According to police reports, the accused individuals have been identified as Mithun Debnath (24) and Bower Debbarma (24), both residents of Maharani. The survivor had willingly accompanied them to the Tripureswari temple on Thursday evening, not knowing the horrific ordeal that awaited her.
After their visit to the temple, the two men allegedly lured the girl into a car and drove towards Udaipur railway station. It was during this journey that they allegedly committed the heinous crime of raping her inside the vehicle. Nibha Sinha, officer-in-charge of RK Pur Women Police Station, confirmed the disturbing details of the incident.
The trio was apprehended later that night at the Kakraban checkgate in the Udaipur subdivision. Upon questioning, the survivor bravely disclosed the traumatic experience she had endured, leading to the immediate detention of the accused individuals.
In response to a complaint filed by the survivor’s family on Friday, both Mithun Debnath and Bower Debbarma were arrested. A forensic team has conducted an examination of the vehicle involved in the crime, and the survivor’s statement has been recorded before a local court as part of the ongoing investigation.
The community has expressed outrage and demanded swift justice for the young girl who fell victim to such a horrific crime. Authorities have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address and prevent such acts of violence against women in society.
