Tripura Government Takes Steps to Enhance Healthcare Facilities at AGMC and GBP Hospital
Tripura has recently implemented a series of initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govinda Ballabh Pant (GBP) hospital. The state government’s commitment to enhancing medical facilities for its citizens was reaffirmed during a meeting of the governing body of the Rogi Kalyan Samity (RKS) held at the Council Hall of AGMC on August 25.
During the meeting, several important decisions were approved to benefit patients seeking medical care at the hospitals. New counters will be opened to provide free diagnostic services to eligible patients under various categories such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Priority Group, Antyodaya, and BPL. This initiative aims to ensure that patients have access to necessary diagnostic tests without financial burden.
Furthermore, the central laboratory at AGMC will undergo an upgrade with modern testing facilities to enhance the quality of diagnostics. The hospital will also use untied funds from the National Health Mission (NHM) to procure medicines for the Trauma Care Emergency and Pediatric Department, ensuring continuous availability of essential medications.
In a bid to improve transparency and patient experience, complaint and suggestion boxes will be installed throughout the hospital premises. This will allow patients and their families to provide feedback for review and necessary action. Additionally, ten civil service volunteers will be appointed at the “May I Help You” desk of AGMC to assist patients and their attendants.
The meeting was chaired by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, who serves as the Chairperson of the Rogi Kalyan Samity. Other attendees included Vice-Chairman Dr. Ashok Sinha, members Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Hiralal Debnath, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, GBP Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, and AGMC Principal Dr. Anup Kumar Saha.
These initiatives reflect Tripura’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens by strengthening healthcare facilities and services at AGMC and GBP hospital.
