The Tripura government has launched a thorough investigation into the tragic death of a lorry driver in Khowai district’s Chakmaghat, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on August 5th.
Mihir Lal Debnath, the lorry driver, was unfortunately trapped inside the cabin of his cement-laden vehicle after it collided with a tree in the early hours of August 5th. Despite efforts to rescue him, Debnath ultimately succumbed to his injuries as the rescue operation proved unsuccessful.
Chief Minister Saha expressed his condolences for the driver’s family and stated, “A probe has been initiated in connection with the unfortunate incident at Teliamura where a driver tragically lost his life following a mishap.”
Following the circulation of a viral video in which it was claimed that the rescue machinery failed to function properly, Chief Minister Saha has directed the relevant authorities to provide a detailed report on the incident promptly. He also emphasized that appropriate action will be taken if any negligence is discovered on the part of individuals involved in the rescue operation.
The investigation into this tragic incident aims to determine the circumstances that led to the driver’s death and ensure accountability for any lapses in the rescue efforts. The Tripura government is committed to upholding safety standards and preventing such accidents from occurring in the future.
