Agartala celebrated the remarkable achievement of the Tripura Women’s Football Team, who secured the runners-up position in the prestigious Assam Rifles Sentinels Football Championship 2025. The felicitation ceremony, held at the Assam Rifles Kunjaban Garrison on March 31, 2025, recognized the team’s outstanding performance and dedication.
Shri Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Tripura, graced the event, along with Brigadier Manish Rana, SM, DIG Assam Rifles. Minister Roy personally congratulated the team, acknowledging their exceptional sportsmanship and skill displayed throughout the championship. The tournament, which featured intense matches in Lokra, Assam, and culminated in a thrilling final in Laitkor, Shillong, saw the Tripura team demonstrate remarkable resilience, ultimately finishing second to the Assam Rifles Women’s Team.
During the ceremony, Shri Tinku Roy emphasized the Tripura government’s unwavering commitment to promoting and supporting women’s sports. He praised the players’ hard work and assured them of continued government backing, including the development of enhanced sports infrastructure and training facilities within the state.
