Tripura is set to introduce new technology that will revolutionize the way power line repairs are conducted in the state, announced Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on May 14. This innovative technology will allow for electricity line repairs to be carried out without disrupting the power supply, ensuring uninterrupted electricity for residents.
The announcement came after a review meeting of the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) to evaluate the state’s readiness for the upcoming monsoon season. Minister Nath highlighted the efforts made by officials to maintain power supply during the recent floods and emphasized the importance of being prepared for potential disruptions during the monsoon.
In addition to implementing the new repair technology, the minister instructed officials to address daily warnings promptly to prevent any disruptions. He also commended the improvements made in the power sector and praised the hard work of electricians and support staff who are working tirelessly to ensure reliable electricity supply.
However, Minister Nath expressed concern over the fact that only 70 per cent of Agartala city residents have paid their electricity bills. He also raised alarm over deliberate damage to electrical infrastructure, citing incidents of vandalism that have occurred recently. The minister revealed that 21 such incidents were reported in one day, prompting him to file an FIR and work closely with the police to apprehend the culprits.
Nath urged the public to cooperate in identifying those responsible for damaging electrical infrastructure and emphasized the importance of working together to prevent such incidents in the future. With the new technology set to be implemented, Tripura is on track to ensure a more reliable and disruption-free power supply for its residents.
