Tripura’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Department (ARDD) and Scheduled Caste Welfare, Sudhangshu Das, has spoken out against the growing trend of idol immersions accompanied by alcohol consumption and loud DJ music in the state.
Das expressed his concerns about how these modern practices are inconsistent with the traditional Hindu cultural values that have been followed for generations. He stressed the importance of maintaining the sanctity and decorum of religious rituals, urging communities to adhere to traditional customs during festivals.
In a statement, Das said, “Immersing the idol of Thakur while drinking alcohol and dancing with DJ music is not the culture of traditional Hinduism. Therefore, I request all the well-informed people of our society to come forward against this bad culture.”
The minister also highlighted the importance of guiding the younger generation towards the right path through correct and spiritual practices. “We have to remove the next generation from the wrong path and take it to the right path,” he added.
In conclusion, Das extended his wishes for good health and a meaningful life for all, emphasizing the need for the community to preserve their cultural roots and uphold the values that have been passed down through generations.
