Tripura’s Agriculture and Electricity Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, paid a unique tribute to farmers by touching their feet during the inauguration of a seed processing center in Bamutia. The event, held at North Laxmilunga in the Bamutia Assembly constituency under the Mohanpur subdivision, underscored the government’s commitment to recognizing the vital role of farmers in the nation’s economy.
Minister Nath emphasized that under the Narendra Modi government, farmers are finally receiving the respect they deserve, a stark contrast to the neglect they faced in the post-independence era. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s focus on the agricultural sector and the importance of farmers as the “providers of food” for the entire country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by West District Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, agriculture department officials, and other dignitaries. During the event, farmers were provided with essential agricultural equipment, including small tractor machines, grass cutting machines, and water pump machines.
Following the inauguration of the seed processing center, Minister Nath stressed the need to prioritize high-quality seeds, scientific farming methods, and soil testing to advance the state’s agriculture. He noted that Tripura is making significant strides in agricultural production and has earned the trust of the central government. As a result, Tripura has been entrusted with the responsibility of certifying paddy production in Manipur and Mizoram.
In a poignant gesture, Minister Nath touched the feet of the farmers, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to society. He stated that while religion cannot provide sustenance, farmers do, making them worthy of the highest respect.
