Tripura Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb has spoken out against the previous Left Front government, blaming them for the poor drainage and water sewerage system in Agartala city. He claims that since the BJP government took over, significant improvements have been made to the drainage system, resulting in water clearing within hours rather than days.
Deb emphasized the importance of ensuring timely help for those in distress, rather than placing blame. He visited a relief camp where 103 families have sought shelter and stated that the state government, under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, has been providing necessary support to those affected by the floods. Around 2,800 families have taken shelter in relief camps, with 18 rescue teams deployed to assist them.
The Tripura MP highlighted the early arrival of the monsoon this year, which has led to increased flooding in the region. He mentioned the installation of additional water pumps and the construction of new drains to improve the drainage system. Deb also mentioned ongoing road construction and the renovation of water bodies to mitigate flooding in the city.
Deb acknowledged the efforts of MLAs, corporators, government officials, and BJP leaders in working together to provide assistance to those affected by the floods. He reassured the public that the government is committed to addressing the challenges posed by the monsoon season and ensuring the safety and well-being of the people of Agartala.
