Tripura observed the 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Saturday with floral tributes offered at his bust in front of the historic Ujjayanta Palace. The solemn ceremony honoured the architect of the Indian Constitution and a pioneering champion of social justice.
Hon’ble Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu attended the programme and paid homage to Ambedkar’s unparalleled contributions to equality, democracy, and nation-building. Also present were Sudhanshu Das, Minister of Tribal Welfare; Deepak Majumder, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation; and Biswajit Shil, Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zilla Parishad, along with several dignitaries, officials, and citizens.
Speakers emphasised Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in shaping India’s constitutional framework and inspiring generations to fight against social discrimination. The gathering reflected the state’s respect and admiration for one of the nation’s most influential thinkers.
