Tripura Police made a significant drug bust in Sepahijala district on Tuesday, seizing cannabis valued at over Rs 1 crore in two separate operations.
The first operation led to the arrest of Indra Kumar Debbarma, who was found in possession of cannabis worth Rs 28 lakh. Police acted on a tip-off and apprehended Debbarma, leading to the recovery of the illegal substance.
In a separate operation conducted in the dense forest of Dhanirampur, authorities found 386 kilograms of dry cannabis packed in nine plastic drums. The stash, worth an estimated Rs 77.2 lakh, was discovered abandoned and unclaimed in the forest.
It is believed that the seized cannabis was being stored for illegal trafficking purposes. Police have launched an investigation to track down the individuals and networks involved in the smuggling operation.
The seized cannabis has been handed over to the authorities for further legal proceedings. The Tripura Police are committed to cracking down on illegal drug trafficking in the region and will continue their efforts to maintain law and order.
