Tripura Police made a significant discovery during a late-night raid on August 26 in Amtali, near Agartala, uncovering a cache of firearms hidden beneath the floor of a residence. The raid, led by officers from Amtali Police Station and SDPO Amtali Parmita Pandey, was carried out at the home of Dipankar Sen, who is currently in judicial custody in connection with multiple arms-related cases.
According to West District Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, the search was prompted by intelligence indicating that Sen’s residence contained illegal weapons. During the raid, officers unearthed four pistols and seven magazines concealed beneath the floorboards of the house.
While initial investigations suggest that the firearms are factory-made, forensic experts will conduct further examinations to confirm their origin. Sen, who is allegedly involved in at least seven criminal cases, is primarily linked to illegal firearms activities, as per police sources.
The discovery of the firearms has raised concerns about the prevalence of illegal weapons in the region and the need for stringent measures to combat their circulation. Authorities are continuing their investigations into the case to uncover any potential connections to larger criminal networks.
