Tripura has once again demonstrated its excellence on a national platform by being recognized as a top achiever at the Udyog Samagam 2025, organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The state was honored for excelling in two reform areas under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024, highlighting Tripura’s focus on improving the ease of doing business and promoting industrial transformation.
During the event, Tripura’s Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma accepted the award from Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, marking a proud moment for the Northeastern state.
Piyush Goyal commended all participating states for their innovative reforms and collaborative efforts in enhancing India’s industrial landscape. He emphasized the Central Government’s commitment to supporting States and Union Territories in achieving quality-driven growth and fostering a resilient ecosystem beneficial to both consumers and businesses.
Tripura, categorized as a part of Category X alongside other Northeastern States and Union Territories, was recognized as an Aspirer State for its consistent implementation of reforms, policy innovation, and governance-driven support for business ease.
The evaluation framework of BRAP 2024 assessed 434 reform points across Central and State domains, with input from over 5.8 lakh businesses and 1.3 lakh interviews across 34 States and UTs. Goyal encouraged States to prioritize innovation, women’s participation, startup development, and deep-tech industries, while leveraging India’s expanding Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to empower farmers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs.
