State government has placed special emphasis on providing quality education to students alongside digital education infrastructure. In this regard, Artificial Intelligence (AI) -based systems have been given priority. Currently, various vocational educational institutions and necessary educational infrastructure have been established in the state to facilitate higher education opportunities. On June 18, an event was held at the auditorium of the Hapania International Fairground where the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) and the Central Board of Secondary Education honored the top performers in the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations conducted by Vidya Jyoti School. Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha praised the students at this ceremony organized by the School Education Department.
The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to all the honored students. He stated that those who did not achieve the expected results in these exams should not consider it as a failure, but rather a stepping stone towards success in the future through hard work and perseverance. He emphasized that within failure lies the key to success. The Chief Minister stated that among the students in the state, there is immense potential. They excel in both knowledge and intellect. In addition to academic studies, students must also focus on shaping their own lifestyle. Self-discipline and engagement in extracurricular activities are necessary for personal development. Traditional education alone cannot be the foundation of life. It is important to focus on personal growth for the betterment of the country and society. The Chief Minister also mentioned the importance of keeping students away from addiction. He highlighted the role of everyone in keeping students away from the dangers of substance abuse.
The Chief Minister announced that the pass rates in the 2025 Secondary Exams were 86.53 percent, with 100 percent of students passing in 345 schools. In the Higher Secondary exams, the pass rate was 79.29 percent, with 100 percent of students passing in 39 schools. The pass rate in the Secondary Exams of Vidya Jyoti School was 86 percent, an increase of 26 percent compared to the previous year. There were 15 Vidya Jyoti Schools with a 100 percent success rate in the exams, up from just one school last year. In the Higher Secondary exams of Vidya Jyoti School, the pass rate was 71 percent, an increase of 21 percent compared to the previous year. There were 5 Vidya Jyoti Schools with a 100 percent success rate, up from zero last year.
At the event, the Chief Minister outlined various initiatives taken to promote quality education in the state, including the implementation of NCERT curriculum, transformation of English medium schools, launching of the Super-30 project, Chief Minister’s Scholarship, Talent Search Examination, Vidya Jyoti Project, distribution of workbooks under the Endeavor Project, free distribution of bicycles to ninth-grade students, fundamental transformation of TBSE exams, smart classes, IT labs, tinkering labs, Mission Makul, and other initiatives. The Chief Minister’s efforts to launch the new National Education Policy 2020 have been effective in the state as well. The Chief Minister emphasized that education is an ongoing process. The more one studies, the more knowledge they acquire. Alongside knowledge, self-confidence is also built through education.
The Chief Minister mentioned that construction of new buildings in 44 schools and renovation of various facilities in 346 schools have been completed in the state. Plans are underway for the development and renovation of structures in 123 schools by the 2025-26 fiscal year. The Chief Minister has initiated the Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana to encourage higher education among women, providing free scooters to 140 meritorious female students who passed the twelfth-grade exam. Enrollment of female students in government degree colleges has increased due to the waiver of admission and various fees. A Special Scholarship has been introduced for visually impaired students to pursue higher education. Initiatives like setting up an IIT, National Forensic Science University, and Drone Center in TIET have been taken. The aim is to establish MBBS as a fully accredited advanced university in the state, with various government and non-governmental higher education institutions present in the state. The Chief Secretary of the School Education Department, Ravel Hemendra Kumar, delivered a welcome speech at the event. Also present was N.C. Sharma, an official from the School Education Department. Tablets and certificates were given to the first, second, and third-place winners in the Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations. The Chief Minister handed out certificates of honor to the achievers.
