The second edition of the Women’s Sentinels Cup Football Tournament, hosted by Assam Rifles, concluded with an exciting final match at Laitkor on March 27, 2025. The DGAR women’s team emerged victorious, defeating the Tripura team with a convincing score of 6-0 to claim the championship title. Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, DGAR, attended the event and congratulated the winning team on their achievement.
The tournament, which began on March 16 at Lokra, featured teams from the Seven Sister States of Northeast India, including the DGAR women’s football team. The Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur inaugurated the event as the Chief Guest. The knockout phase was successfully conducted by the 30 Assam Rifles at Lokra.
Beyond the thrilling football matches, participants benefited from various empowerment initiatives. These included inspirational talks, sessions on women’s and youth empowerment, skill development, and promoting health, fitness, and a sports culture. The Sentinels Cup is an annual women’s football tournament aimed at promoting and uplifting women’s football in the Northeast region.
