The decision to create another India Reserve Battalion in Tripura comes as a significant development for the state. Chief Minister Manik Saha’s proposal to Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been approved, with the Union Home Ministry sanctioning the raising of another India Reserve Battalion for Tripura State Rifles.
This move is expected to not only enhance security in the state but also generate employment opportunities. The financial assistance of Rs 50 crore from the Government of India for raising the IR Battalion will provide a much-needed boost to the state’s security forces.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Government of India will have the right to deploy the IR Battalion anywhere in the country as needed. Additionally, up to Rs 30 crore will be provided for infrastructure costs, excluding the cost of land, upon submission of expenditure details.
Chief Minister Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support in sanctioning the new IR Battalion. The creation of this additional battalion is expected to strengthen security measures in Tripura and contribute to the overall development of the state.
