Agartala: Following the historic presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the 8 Bardowali Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a special viewing and celebratory session today at the Battala Shiv Mandir premises. Led by Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Deb, party workers and local residents gathered in large numbers to witness the live broadcast and discuss the budget’s impact on Tripura’s development.
The atmosphere was festive as karyakartas cheered the major announcements, particularly the ₹12.2 lakh crore capital expenditure push and the new Buddhist Circuit scheme, which specifically includes Tripura as a key destination for spiritual tourism.
Focus on ‘Ashtalakshmi’ and Youth Empowerment
Speaking to Tripura24.in near the Shiv Mandir, Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Deb expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He highlighted that the budget’s “Ashtalakshmi” development model ensures that the Northeast remains the “Growth Engine” of India.
“This budget is a gift to the youth and the middle class of Bardowali and all of Tripura. With the establishment of AVGC Content Creator Labs in 15,000 schools and the new SME Growth Fund, our local entrepreneurs and students will reach new heights,” said Mr. Deb.
Key Takeaways Celebrated by the Mandal:
- Tripura Tribal Upliftment: A special package of ₹50 crore dedicated specifically to the tribal communities of Tripura for infrastructure and welfare.
- Tourism Boom: The inclusion of Tripura in the Northeast Buddhist Circuit, which will renovate local heritage sites and boost the hospitality sector.
- Infrastructure Connectivity: The announcement of 4,000 electric buses for the Northeast, promising a cleaner and more efficient public transport system for Agartala.
- Women’s Welfare: The proposal to build a dedicated girls’ hostel in every district, a move hailed by the Mandal’s women wing as a landmark for safety and education.
The event concluded with the distribution of sweets and a resolution by the 8 Bardowali Mandal to take the “benefits of the budget” to every doorstep in the constituency. Other prominent local leaders and senior karyakartas were also present, echoing the sentiment that Budget 2026-27 has laid a solid foundation for a “Shrestha Tripura.”
