A two-day workshop on natural farming and PGS certification was held in Agartala.
Organized by the Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming (RCONF) in Imphal, in collaboration with the State Agricultural Research Station (SARS) in Agartala, the workshop took place on November 18th and 19th, 2025 at the SARS conference hall. The workshop focused on providing training on natural farming and PGS certification.
The inaugural event saw the presence of chief guest Shri Apurba Ray, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura. Dr. Uttam Saha, Joint Director of Agricultural Research at SARS, Agartala, and Dr. V. Wai D. Gohain, Regional Director of RCONF, Imphal, were also present as special guests. The event commenced with a welcoming speech by the Secretary.
Over the course of the two-day training, experts delved into various aspects of natural farming, including its objectives, policies, benefits, certification process, soil health and nutrition management, traditional agricultural practices, seed conservation, marketing and processing, bio-inputs, and pest and disease management. Participants had the opportunity to engage in detailed discussions and ask questions.
The workshop saw a notable presence of agricultural researchers, extension workers, and farmers from various regions. Everyone present expressed their commitment to adopting appropriate initiatives to promote sustainable agricultural practices and the expansion of natural farming methods.
