Debendra Pradhan also worked as former president of Odisha BJP
Officials said that the veteran BJP leader Debendra Pradhan, who was a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, died on Monday.

He was 84 years old, and survived by the Union Education Minister, his son Dharmendra Pradhan.
Former Odisha BJP President Pradhan Pradhan breathed his last in New Delhi.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that he was a popular public leader and a competent MP.
“He discharged his duties as Union Minister for Transport and Agriculture with efficiency from 1999 to 2001. As a public representative and MP, he became the purpose of affection for the common people by doing many welfare works,” said Majhi.
He said, “He dedicated his entire life to the development of the state with service and determination.”
Maji said that the country and the state lost a reputed public servant.
CM also spoke to his son and expressed his condolences.
Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, Naveen Patnaik said that Pradhan will be remembered for his unique organizational skills and unbreakable personality.
“The state has lost an influential political person and popular politician in the death of Dr. Pradhan,” he said.
