AGARTALA: In a momentous event for the academic community of the state, the 14th Convocation of Tripura University (A Central University) was held today at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Shatabarshiki Bhavan. The ceremony was graced by the Vice President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The convocation, which returned after a two-year hiatus (covering the academic years 2024 and 2025), saw the presence of Governor of Tripura and Chief Rector Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and the University’s Chancellor Ahmad Javed.
Key Highlights of the Ceremony
The atmosphere at the Suryamaninagar campus was electric as hundreds of students donned their ceremonial robes to receive their hard-earned degrees.
- Degrees Conferred: A total of 283 students from various departments were honored with Gold Medals for their academic excellence.
- Research Milestones: The university awarded 149 PhD degrees, marking a significant contribution to the state’s research and innovation landscape.
- Academic Restoration: Officials noted that the ceremony was crucial as the lack of a formal convocation in the past two years had caused administrative hurdles for graduates seeking employment and higher studies abroad.
Vice President’s Address: “Reject Drugs, Embrace Technology”
