In a stern reaction to the recent physical assault on BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, Honorable Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today addressed the media, warning that the state government would not tolerate any attempt to disturb the peace through political violence.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come in the wake of a reported attack on the senior tribal leader’s convoy while he was returning from a party organizational program in the interior parts of the state.
Zero Tolerance for Lawlessness
Speaking to reporters at the State Secretariat, Dr. Manik Saha expressed his deep concern over the incident and confirmed that he has personally directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits.
”The attack on a senior leader like Bipin Debbarma is a direct assault on the democratic fabric of our state. No matter which political party the perpetrators belong to, they will be identified and brought to justice. Our government is committed to ending the culture of ‘politics of the stick’ forever,” the Chief Minister asserted.
The Incident and Rising Tensions
While the specific location of the attack is being investigated, preliminary reports suggest that a group of miscreants blocked the leader’s path and pelted stones at his vehicle, causing damage and minor injuries.
Bipin Debbarma, a key figure in the BJP Janajati Morcha, has been actively working to expand the party’s footprint in the TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) areas. The Chief Minister hinted that certain “rattled political elements” are resorting to violence out of fear of losing their ground in the hills.
