News Report:
West Agartala Police on Sunday handed over 27 mobile phones, lost or stolen between September and December, to their rightful owners after successful recovery operations. The phones were returned at a formal event where West District SP Namit Pathak personally handed them over.
Speaking to the media, SP Pathak highlighted the alarming rise in cybercrime, urging citizens to remain vigilant. He specifically warned against downloading unknown APK files, noting that such files often allow criminal networks to access personal data, banking details, and even siphon money from victims’ accounts.
He emphasised the importance of digital awareness and encouraged the public to report suspicious online activity promptly. The recovery operation and subsequent handover were appreciated by residents, reflecting increasing trust in police efforts to combat both physical theft and cyber-related offences.
