Over a thousand youths belonging to the Youth Tipra Federation, the youth wing of the Tipra Motha Party, took to the streets on Monday to protest against the alleged illegal construction of an embankment by Bangladesh along the international border of Tripura-Bangladesh at Bolla Mukha under Belonia Sub-division in Tripura’s South district.
The protest, which saw massive participation from members of the Youth Tipra Federation, aimed to highlight the encroachment of Indian territory by the neighbouring country. The protestors warned that if Bangladesh does not rectify their mistake, they will occupy the Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) and Cox’s Bazar to establish a Greater Tipraland in those areas.
Security forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police, were deployed in the protest area to maintain law and order. Suraj Debbarma, President of the Youth Tipra Federation, emphasized that the construction of the embankment by Bangladesh beyond the agreed-upon distance of 150 yards was a clear violation of Indian sovereignty.
Debbarma urged the Government of India to take immediate action to address the issue and protect the borders of Tripura. He warned that if the government fails to act, the indigenous people of Tripura, under the leadership of Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Manikya, will escalate the matter further.
Founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishore Manikya, expressed support for the protestors and condemned the illegal construction by Bangladesh. He stated that the youth of Tiprasa were ready to take action against such encroachments with the necessary support.
The protest at Bolla Mukha under Belonia Sub-division highlighted the determination of the youth of Tripura to safeguard their land and borders against any threat. The protestors emphasized their commitment to defending their territory and warned Bangladesh against further violations.
