The recent violence in Shantir Bazar village in Tripura has led to the arrest of two individuals by the Tripura Police. The unrest occurred following a 24-hour strike called by the Tripura Civil Society.
According to a senior Tripura Police official who spoke to India Today NE on Sunday, October 26, the arrests were made after a raid conducted by the police. Riaz Debbarma was apprehended in Maharani in the Salema police station area. During the transportation of the suspect to the police station, a group of enraged locals attacked the police vehicle, causing damage. Additional police personnel were deployed to control the situation, and the accused was safely taken to the station.
In addition to Debbarma, another individual named Ratnadeep Rudrapal was arrested in the Shantir Bazar area on suspicion of involvement in the same incident. Both suspects are currently being interrogated at the police station as part of an ongoing investigation into the unrest and clashes that took place during the bandh.
The police official emphasized that legal action will be taken against the accused individuals. He assured the public that the situation in the area is now under control, with authorities closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further incidents of violence.
