AGARTALA | June 21, 2026: In a grand celebration marking the 12th International Day of Yoga, the central state-level event of Tripura was successfully organized today at the premier Hapania International Exhibition Centre in Agartala. The mega convention witnessed an overwhelming gathering of thousands of participants, including school and college students, security personnel, administrative officials, and yoga enthusiasts from across the state.
The prestigious morning session was led by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, who attended as the Chief Guest. Joining him on the central dais was the Honorable Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Social Welfare & Social Education, Shri Tinku Roy, along with top-tier administrative secretaries and sports council executives.
Embracing Holistic Health on a Grand Scale
The sprawling halls of the Hapania International Exhibition Centre were transformed into a massive yoga arena as certified instructors guided the massive gathering through the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). The session featured a series of synchronized asanas, deep breathing exercises (pranayama), and collective meditation aimed at promoting mental peace and physical resilience.
Addressing the grand assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the transformative role of yoga in daily life and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating this ancient Indian tradition onto the global stage.
”Yoga is a timeless treasure of Indian heritage that guarantees a disease-free body and a stress-free mind. Seeing such a massive turnout here at the Hapania International Exhibition Centre, especially from our younger generation, proves that the message of wellness has truly hit home in Tripura. Our government is actively working to integrate regular yoga and fitness practices into schools and community centers to build a healthier, drug-free state,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha asserted during his keynote address.
Youth and Sports Department Sets Ambitious Wellness Goals
Speaking at the event, Sports Minister Tinku Roy highlighted that his department is framing dedicated modules to ensure that yoga training reaches the rural subdivisions of the state throughout the year, rather than being confined to a single day of celebration.
The massive scale of the state-level event underscored several key milestones:
- Mass Public Integration: Bringing together diverse groups, from paramilitary units to school children, under one roof to practice synchronized wellness routines.
- Infrastructure Utilization: Leveraging the expansive Hapania International Exhibition complex to comfortably host one of the largest indoor yoga assemblies in the Northeast region.
- Health Directives: Distributing specialized digital booklets and guides outlining natural lifestyle changes and daily stress-management routines to all attendees.
The program concluded with a specialized demonstration by state-level competitive yoga athletes, followed by the distribution of commendation certificates to the organizing institutions and fitness clubs.
