The Tripura government has announced compensation packages for residents affected by the violence that erupted in Shantirbazar Market in Dhalai district following a statewide bandh on October 23. Chief Minister Manik Saha visited the area on November 13 to assess the damage and meet with affected business owners.
During his visit, Saha announced immediate relief measures, including Rs 3 lakh for completely destroyed houses and shops, Rs 1.5 lakh for severely damaged properties, and Rs 15,000 for partially damaged structures. The violence, which was sparked by the statewide bandh called by Tripura Civil Society, resulted in several properties being damaged and residents being displaced.
The chief minister urged residents to maintain peace and tranquility in the area and assured them of full government support for rehabilitation efforts. He directed the district magistrate to implement necessary measures to help those affected return to normalcy. Additionally, injured persons will receive appropriate assistance, although specific amounts were not disclosed.
The relief packages aim to help affected families and traders rebuild their livelihoods in the aftermath of the unrest. The Tripura government is committed to providing assistance to those impacted by the violence and ensuring that they are able to recover and move forward.
