Tripura Unorganized Labor Congress demands three-fold payment on Tuesday in front of the Congress Bhavan, maintaining a public presence alongside the National Health Mission’s Mission Director to hand over a memorandum. They claim that the employees working under the state health department receive work for only 5 months a year, making it impossible for them to provide for their families and lead a normal life. In addition, the state’s daily wage laborers are increasingly being harassed, where the promise of increasing their daily wages and providing them with a minimum of 200 days of work per year is not being fulfilled by the current government.
As a result, the state’s daily wage laborers are facing extreme financial difficulties and unrest in their lives. Additionally, the state’s Mid-Day Meal and ASHA workers have not been regularized so far, despite promises that regularization would occur with the change of government to BJP. The Tripura Unorganized Labor Congress leaders present at today’s public gathering included Chairman Shantanu Pal, District Congress President Tanmoy Saha, Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty, and others.
They emphasized that if their three-fold demands are not met, a larger movement will be launched in the future. They also expressed disappointment that despite years passing since the formation of the government, the regularization of ASHA workers and Mid-Day Meal workers has not been achieved. The leaders of the Tripura Unorganized Labor Congress warned that they will escalate their protests if their demands are not fulfilled.
