News Report (English):
Agartala, Tripura — Acting on secret intelligence, the East Agartala Police conducted a late evening and night operation on Monday and successfully arrested five alleged drug peddlers from two key locations: Kasari Patti and the area near Women’s College under East Police Station limits.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out based on confidential information regarding illegal drug trade activities in the area. The suspects were detained with suspected narcotic substances, and preliminary interrogation is underway.
East Agartala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Subrata Debnath, briefed the media, revealing critical details about the arrests. He confirmed that the detained individuals are allegedly involved in an organized drug distribution network targeting youth and local neighborhoods.
“We are intensifying surveillance and operations in sensitive areas. This arrest is part of our continuous crackdown on drug trafficking in Agartala,” OC Debnath stated, adding that further investigations are ongoing to identify wider links and suppliers.
The arrests mark a significant step in local law enforcement’s fight against rising substance abuse and illegal narcotics trade in Tripura’s urban belts.
