Agartala, Tripura: A review meeting on the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) was held at Pragna Bhavan in the state capital to assess progress and discuss future strategies for effective water management in agriculture.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of all eight districts, Agriculture Department Secretary Apurba Roy, and other senior officials of the department.
During the discussion, emphasis was laid on the efficient utilisation of rainwater and ways to make it more productive for agricultural purposes. Officials and representatives deliberated on how the scheme can help improve irrigation coverage, enhance crop productivity, and ensure sustainable use of water resources.
The meeting also focused on generating employment opportunities through the project and promoting self-reliance among farmers by strengthening irrigation infrastructure and water conservation practices. Participants shared district-wise progress reports and discussed measures to accelerate implementation.
The Agriculture Minister stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among departments and district administrations to fully realise the objectives of the PMKSY and ensure long-term benefits for the farming community in Tripura.
