News Report:
Following the nationwide call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), a protest programme was organised in Agartala today demanding the implementation of a five-day banking week. Bank employees participated in the dharna as part of the countrywide agitation to press their long-pending demand.
The protesters stated that reducing the working week to five days would improve work-life balance for bank employees and enhance efficiency in the banking sector. Alongside the central demand, issues related to staff shortages, workload, and customer service were also highlighted during the demonstration.
Bank union leaders informed that similar programmes were held at various bank branches and offices, with employees expressing solidarity with the nationwide movement. They urged the central government and banking authorities to take immediate steps to address their demands.
The protest in Agartala remained peaceful, with union representatives stating that further agitation may be intensified if the demand is not met.
