Agartala, Tripura: Alleging continuous financial, mental, and daily harassment, more than 500 auto-rickshaw workers of the state have lodged an FIR at the East Police Station against the Bajaj company. The complaint highlights multiple issues faced by auto-rickshaw workers, including alleged exploitation and problems arising during daily operations, particularly related to traffic-related harassment.
According to the complaint, the workers have been facing severe difficulties due to the company’s policies, which they claim have negatively impacted their livelihood and mental well-being. The workers stated that the situation has forced them to come together and seek legal recourse against what they described as corrupt and unfair practices.
Speaking on the matter, Biplab Kar, President of the Mazdoor Monitoring Cell, said that the FIR was filed to ensure justice for the affected workers and to draw the attention of the authorities to the long-standing problems faced by auto-rickshaw drivers. He added that labour representatives would continue to protest against the alleged irregularities until appropriate action is taken.
The auto-rickshaw workers also announced that they would stage protests against the alleged corruption and harassment. They appealed to members of the media to remain present and highlight their grievances so that the voices of the workers reach the wider public.
Police officials confirmed receipt of the FIR and said that the matter would be examined as per legal procedure.
