Agartala, Tripura: The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress has demanded strict punishment for those responsible for the death of Tripura student Angel Chakma and warned that the organisation will launch a larger statewide movement in the coming days if justice is not delivered.
Addressing a press conference held at the Congress Bhavan, State Youth Congress President Nilkamal Saha strongly condemned the incident and termed it a serious failure of law and order.
Nilkamal Saha said the brutal death of Angel Chakma has deeply shaken the conscience of the people of Tripura and the Northeast. He demanded a time-bound investigation, arrest of all accused, and exemplary punishment to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
He further stated that if the authorities fail to ensure justice, the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress will intensify its agitation and take the movement to the streets in a bigger form, mobilising youths across the state.
The press conference concluded with an appeal for unity, justice, and the protection of students from Tripura and the Northeast studying outside the state.
