Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has channelled ₹14.05 crore under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to execute 35 development projects across Tripura during his combined tenures in the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.Speaking to the media in Agartala on Thursday, Deb said each MP receives ₹5 crore annually under MPLADS and that he ensured the funds were utilised for people-centric initiatives over his three years of parliamentary service—1.5 years in the Rajya Sabha and 1.5 years in the Lok Sabha.During his Rajya Sabha tenure, Deb sanctioned 13 projects worth ₹4.57 crore. After being elected to the Lok Sabha, he approved seven projects amounting to ₹3.44 crore in 2024–25 and 15 projects worth ₹6.03 crore in 2025–26.The projects include the installation of 19 water treatment plants in schools, community centres and market sheds, along with the creation of medical facilities, yoga and indoor halls, ambulances and open gyms to promote public health and fitness.In addition, Deb said ₹32.4 lakh was arranged from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund (PMRF) to support 14 beneficiaries in urgent need. He also highlighted his parliamentary contribution, including the submission of a report titled “Evidence before the Select Committee on the IBC Amendment Bill, 2025” in the Lok Sabha.Deb said the initiatives reflect his commitment to inclusive and targeted development, ensuring that public funds directly benefit the people of Tripura.
