Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Saturday conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment drive at the Thakur Palli Road area, demolishing several illegally constructed structures and unauthorized roadside shops. The operation was carried out in the presence of Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, along with senior municipal officials and enforcement teams.According to AMC sources, the drive was undertaken to reclaim public land, ensure smooth traffic flow, and improve pedestrian safety in the busy locality. Officials said repeated notices had been issued to encroachers before the action was taken. Heavy machinery and civic staff were deployed to clear the area and remove debris.Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Dipak Majumder stated that the Agartala Municipal Corporation is committed to maintaining city discipline and ensuring that public spaces remain free from illegal occupation. He also urged citizens and shop owners to cooperate with the civic authorities and follow municipal regulations.The Mayor further added that similar anti-encroachment drives would be carried out in other parts of the city as part of AMC’s ongoing campaign to improve urban infrastructure, cleanliness, and overall civic management
