Tripura Pradesh BJP Vice-President Subal Bhowmik on Saturday strongly criticized the CPIM and Congress for opposing key welfare legislations, alleging that their consistent resistance to pro-poor initiatives reflects an anti-development mindset.Addressing a press conference at the Tripura Pradesh BJP rural district office in Khayerpur, Agartala, Bhowmik said that the CPIM had earlier opposed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) when it was introduced. He claimed that around 64 CPIM Members of Parliament had voted against the scheme at that time. Drawing a parallel with the present situation, he stated that the CPIM and Congress are now protesting against the VV-G-RAM-G Act as well.Bhowmik alleged that such repeated opposition to welfare-oriented laws has eroded public confidence in the CPIM. “Because of this kind of politics, the people of India have given the CPIM a befitting reply, and today the party has become politically irrelevant across the country,” he said.He further accused the Left party of never prioritizing the interests of common people, particularly the poor and underprivileged sections. According to him, the BJP-led government remains committed to implementing people-centric policies aimed at inclusive growth and social welfare.Concluding his remarks, Subal Bhowmik said that the public will continue to support development-focused governance and reject political forces that, in his words, repeatedly obstruct reforms meant for the betterment of society.
