Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Saturday announced that no illegal vehicle parking or business activities on footpaths will be allowed in Agartala city after February 3. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Agartala Municipal Corporation office.Addressing the media, the Mayor said the decision has been taken to ease traffic congestion, ensure smooth movement of pedestrians, and maintain discipline in urban management. He pointed out that illegal parking and footpath encroachment have been causing serious inconvenience to commuters and residents for a long time.Majumder further stated that traders and vehicle owners have been given sufficient time to voluntarily comply with the rules. However, from February 3 onwards, strict action will be taken against violators. This will include imposition of fines, towing of illegally parked vehicles, and removal of unauthorized roadside stalls and encroachments.Appealing for public cooperation, the Mayor said that collective efforts are necessary to make Agartala a cleaner, more organized, and traffic-free city. He also assured that the municipal authorities will conduct regular monitoring and enforcement drives to ensure effective implementation of the new measures.
