In a significant development for the healthcare sector of the capital city, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA, Shri Dipak Majumder, announced today that the City Hospital located at Jackson Gate will be fully operational within the next month.
The announcement comes as a major relief to the residents of central Agartala, who have been awaiting the reopening and modernization of this medical facility.
Reviving Urban Healthcare
Mayor Majumder, while visiting the site to oversee the final stages of renovation, emphasized the government’s commitment to decentralizing quality healthcare.
”The City Hospital at Jackson Gate is a crucial asset for the people of this area. We have been working tirelessly to upgrade the infrastructure and ensure that modern medical equipment is installed. I am confident that within the next one month, we will be able to open its doors to the public,” the Mayor stated.
Key Features of the Upgraded Hospital
The reopened City Hospital is expected to provide several essential services to reduce the burden on GB Pant Hospital and IGM Hospital:
- Enhanced OPD Services: Regular clinics for general medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology.
- Modern Diagnostics: Upgraded laboratory facilities for quick and affordable testing.
- Emergency Care: Improved casualty ward to handle minor trauma and urgent medical cases.
- Location Advantage: Being situated at Jackson Gate, it offers easy accessibility for residents of the heart of the city.
Mayor’s Vision for a Healthy Agartala
During his interaction with the media, Dipak Majumder highlighted that the reopening is part of a broader “Smart City” initiative to ensure that every ward under the AMC has access to primary and secondary healthcare. He noted that the state government, under the leadership of CM Dr. Manik Saha, is prioritizing the “Health for All” mission.
The Mayor also assured that the recruitment of medical staff and nurses for the facility is in its final stages to ensure there is no shortage of manpower once the hospital is inaugurated.
