In a major step toward enhancing civic services and local administration, the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new office building of Ward No. 5 under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) was held today. The new facility is designed to provide a modern, accessible workspace for ward-level administrative tasks and to better serve the residents of the area.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Dipak Majumdar, Mayor of AMC and Hon’ble MLA, along with Smt. Lata Nath, Councilor of Ward No. 5, and Shri Tapan Bhattacharya, Mandal President, among other local leaders and dignitaries.
Focus on Decentralized Administration
Speaking at the event after performing the traditional rituals, Mayor Dipak Majumdar emphasized the importance of having dedicated ward offices. He noted that such infrastructure allows residents to resolve their grievances and access municipal services like birth/death certificates, trade licenses, and tax payments more conveniently.

- Modern Amenities: The new office will be equipped with digital infrastructure to support the “Smart City” initiatives.
- Public Help Desk: A dedicated space for citizens to interact with the Councilor and municipal staff.
- Timely Completion: The Mayor instructed the engineers and contractors to ensure that the construction is completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.

Mayor Dipak Majumdar remarked:
