Following an important meeting of the State Cabinet, Food & Civil Supplies and Transport Minister Shri Sushanta Chowdhury held a press conference today to announce a series of landmark decisions aimed at bolstering the state’s infrastructure and public service delivery.
Addressing the media at the Secretariat, the Minister highlighted the government’s focus on social welfare, employment, and the modernization of essential services.
Key Highlights of the Cabinet Decisions:
- New Recruitment Drives: The Cabinet has granted approval for the filling of several vacant posts across various departments, including Education and Health. Minister Chowdhury emphasized that the recruitment process would be transparent and merit-based.
- Infrastructure Boost: A significant budget has been allocated for the renovation of rural roads and the expansion of the drinking water network under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission.’
- Transport Sector Modernization: To improve public transport, the Cabinet approved the induction of more eco-friendly electric buses into the state’s fleet, aiming to reduce carbon emissions in urban areas.
- Social Security Pensions: The Minister announced that the disbursement of social security pensions would be further streamlined to ensure that beneficiaries receive their payments on the first day of every month without fail.
- Agri-Support Initiatives: A new subsidy scheme for farmers involved in organic cultivation was greenlit, providing them with better access to markets and cold storage facilities.
Commitment to “Antyodaya”
During the briefing, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury reiterated the “Double Engine” government’s commitment to the principle of Antyodaya—serving the last person in the queue.
”Every decision taken in today’s Cabinet meeting is centered around the welfare of the common citizens. From creating job opportunities for the youth to strengthening the hands of our farmers, we are working relentlessly to build a ‘Shrestha Tripura’,” the Minister stated.
Public Service Delivery
The Minister also noted that the Cabinet reviewed the progress of various flagship schemes of both the Central and State governments. Instructions have been issued to the concerned departments to ensure 100% saturation of beneficiary-oriented schemes before the end of the current financial year.
The press conference concluded with the Minister answering queries regarding the timeline of the newly announced projects, promising that the benefits would reach the public in a time-bound manner.
