The Tripura Scheduled Castes Coordination Committee (Tripura Tapashili Jati Samannay Samiti) is set to host its 10th State Conference, a significant event aimed at addressing the socio-economic challenges and rights of the SC community in the state. In anticipation of the conference, a press briefing was held today at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Agartala.
The session was led by the General Secretary of the Samiti and former MLA, Shri Sudhan Das, who detailed the agenda and the roadmap for the upcoming convention.
Focus on Rights and Social Justice
Addressing the media, Sudhan Das highlighted that the 10th State Conference comes at a crucial time when the community needs to re-evaluate its progress and standing. He emphasized that the Samiti remains committed to the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and will use this platform to voice the collective demands of the Scheduled Castes across Tripura.
Key highlights of the upcoming conference:
- Safeguarding Reservation: A major portion of the convention will focus on ensuring the strict implementation of reservation policies in government jobs and education.
- Socio-Economic Review: The Samiti plans to present a report on the current living conditions and educational status of SC families in rural and urban areas.
- Combating Atrocities: The conference will deliberate on strengthening legal awareness to prevent any form of social discrimination or atrocities against the community.
- Organizational Strengthening: Delegates from all eight districts will participate to elect new leadership and draft a resolution for the next three years.
“The Struggle for Equality Continues” — Sudhan Das
Former MLA Sudhan Das expressed concern over the perceived dilution of various welfare schemes intended for the upliftment of the backward classes.
”The 10th State Conference will not just be a meeting, but a clarion call for the protection of our constitutional rights. We are observing a gap between the government’s promises and the actual ground reality. This conference will serve as a platform to unite our voices for genuine empowerment,” the General Secretary stated.
Conference Venue and Participation
While the preliminary briefing was held at Ambedkar Bhavan, the Samiti informed that the main conference would see participation from hundreds of delegates and observers. Detailed discussions on the historical struggle of the Scheduled Castes in Tripura and the vision for their future development are expected to be the centerpieces of the event.
The Samiti invited members of the community and social activists to stay informed about the resolutions that will be passed during the final days of the convention.
