AGARTALA: To celebrate and honor the remarkable achievements of the indigenous community on broader platforms, the Tribura Tribal Research and Cultural Institute (TRI), Lembucherra, organized a grand felicitation ceremony today. The event, titled “Honoring Outstanding Scheduled Tribe Personalities in Various Fields at National and International Levels 2026,” was hosted at the Dasarath Deb Samdwk Hukumu Nok (Dasarath Deb Tribal Cultural Heritage Centre) in Suparibagan, Agartala.
The ceremony served as a prestigious platform to acknowledge tribal achievers who have brought laurels to Tripura through excellence in fields such as education, culture, sports, research, and social service.

The felicitation program was graced by top leadership from the Tribal Welfare Department and administrative heads of the research institute.

In his inaugural address, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma highlighted the state government’s continuous commitment to nurturing talent within indigenous pockets and taking their successes to global audiences.
”The tribal youth of Tripura possess immense potential, and many have broken barriers to shine at national and international levels. By honoring these exceptional personalities today, we are not just celebrating their individual success stories, but also inspiring the next generation to dream big. The Tribal Research and Cultural Institute is doing commendable work in preserving our rich heritage while pushing our talent forward,” Minister Bikash Debbarma stated.
A Specialized Hub for Tribal Heritage
The choice of the venue—Dasarath Deb Samdwk Hukumu Nok—complemented the essence of the event. Officials noted that the Tribal Research & Cultural Institute based in Lembucherra has systematically documented the folklore, languages, and traditional customs of Tripura’s 19 indigenous tribes.
The directory of awardees felicitated today included seasoned artists, innovators, and academic researchers whose contributions have significantly enriched the socio-cultural fabric of the state. The dignitaries handed over commemorative citations, traditional Risas, and mementos to the awardees during the peak hours of the ceremony.
