AGARTALA: Mobilizing its ground forces against the economic policies of the center and the law-and-order framework of the state, the CPI(M) Dukli Sub-Divisional Committee organized two massive, back-to-back street rallies in the Jogendranagar area on Friday. The twin protest rallies drew hundreds of Left Front activists, youth workers, and local residents chanting aggressive slogans against fuel pricing and recent educational anomalies.
The dual political assemblies were anchored by a galaxy of top-tier Left ideologues, including Samar Chakraborty, Secretary of the CPI(M) Dukli Sub-Divisional Committee, and Jharna Das Baidya, former Member of Parliament and sitting State Committee Member.
They were joined on the protest tracks by Swapna Datta, West District Committee members Pankaj Ghosh and Srijan Deb, alongside prominent regional party executives Abhijit Bhattacharya, Bikash Debnath, and Nilanjana Roy. Leading the youth and student fronts were front-ranking youth organizers Goutam Ghosh and Shubhankar Majumdar.
A Multilateral Attack on Governance and Economic Failures
The street demonstrations focused on a diverse layout of socio-economic grievances, designed to tap into growing public frustration over household budgets and institutional corruption.
The Strategic Charter of Demands Raised:
- Abnormal Price Explosions: Demanding an immediate rollout of state subsidies to counter the uncontrolled price hikes of domestic cooking gas (LPG), petrol, diesel, and essential everyday food items.
- The NEET Examination Scam: Condemning the widespread national irregularities, paper leaks, and systemic evaluation scams surrounding the NEET-UG entrance process, which Left leaders alleged have destroyed the future of thousands of sincere Tripura students.
- Deteriorating Law and Order: Accusing the state home department of failing to curb localized post-poll violence, theft, and drug trafficking across the Dukli periphery.
“The Double-Engine Government Has Broken the Backbone of the Common Man”: Jharna Das Baidya
Addressing a packed, high-energy street corner meeting at the termination point of the Jogendranagar march, former MP Jharna Das Baidya stated that the current administration is completely detached from the daily realities of working-class households.
”From the kitchen to the classroom, this administration has turned life into a nightmare for ordinary citizens. The continuous, abnormal price hike of cooking gas cylinders and daily essentials has completely broken the economic backbone of lower and middle-income families. How are families supposed to survive when basic nutrition becomes a luxury?
To make matters worse, look at what they have done to our education system. The massive NEET examination scam is an absolute national disgrace. Wealthy syndicates are buying question papers, while our hardworking students from Tripura, who study day and night in small villages, are being robbed of their medical seats.
Simultaneously, the law-and-order situation in our state has completely collapsed—criminal elements operate with absolute impunity because they enjoy political shelter. The CPI(M) will not sit quietly. We are taking this fight directly to the streets of every sub-division, and these two rallies in Jogendranagar are just the beginning of a relentless mass movement,” State Committee Member Jharna Das Baidya announced to the gathering.
Echoing her sentiments, Dukli Chief Samar Chakraborty urged the youth and student fronts to form block-level resistance cells to systematically document local civic failures and keep the pressure mounted on the administration ahead of upcoming rural council transitions.
