Air Marshal Surat Singh meets Assam CM to address regional security concerns amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions and defense preparedness.
Air Marshal Surat Singh, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Eastern Air Command, recently held discussions with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on matters of importance. This meeting comes at a critical time, as tensions between India and Pakistan have been on the rise following recent military conflicts.
In a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), it was confirmed that Air Marshal Surat Singh paid a courtesy visit to Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan on May 9. The CMO also mentioned that the two officials engaged in discussions on various important issues during the meeting.
The timing of this meeting is significant due to the ongoing hostilities between the two neighboring countries. The recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor launched by India have escalated tensions, leading to further attacks and counterattacks between the militaries of India and Pakistan.
In response to the escalating conflict, thirty-two airports in the northern and western regions of India, including Srinagar and Amritsar, have been closed to civilian flight operations until May 15. This decision was made in light of the continued military confrontations between the two countries, which have intensified since India’s strikes on terror camps on May 7 and Pakistan’s subsequent shelling of border areas.
The discussions between Air Marshal Surat Singh and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma underscore the importance of cooperation and coordination in addressing the current security challenges faced by India. As tensions continue to simmer between India and Pakistan, it is crucial for government and military officials to work together to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
