The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has made significant strides in dismantling a massive corruption network related to government job recruitments. Chief Minister Sarma took to social media to announce the closure of a Rs 15,000 crore brokerage shop that was allegedly involved in facilitating bribes for government job placements.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Sarma stated, “By bringing transparency to 1.5 lakh government jobs, the money that used to go into the pockets of bribe-takers and corrupt politicians was stopped.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to good governance and ensuring that youths in Assam are able to secure government jobs without having to pay bribes.
Highlighting the extent of corruption in government job recruitments, Chief Minister Sarma mentioned that some individuals were willing to pay up to Rs 1 lakh to secure a government job. However, he reiterated that the state government is dedicated to providing equal opportunities to all deserving candidates without any form of bribery.
In a video message, CM Sarma further elaborated on the issue, stating, “Our youth should get a job without any bribes. 1.5 lakh youths have got government jobs in the last 4 years at absolutely zero cost.” He applauded the efforts of the government in ensuring transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
In a separate development, Chief Minister Sarma recently dedicated development projects worth over Rs 100 crore in Karbi Anglong district. These projects, which include road construction, bridge improvements, and other infrastructural upgrades, are expected to enhance connectivity and spur development in the region.
Speaking at a program to distribute pre-school kits among Anganwadi Centres in Diphu, Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the importance of early childhood education in fostering holistic development among young children. He expressed optimism about the positive impact of these projects on the overall development of Karbi Anglong and reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the welfare of its citizens.
