Severe weather conditions have wreaked havoc in Tripura, causing widespread damage and leaving hundreds of families affected. According to an official statement, over 400 houses have been impacted by the intense rainfall and thunderstorms that hit the region.
The damage caused by the severe weather also led to disruptions in electricity supply, with 49 power poles being damaged in the process. In Karbook, Gomati district, two individuals were injured when their homes collapsed. The injured individuals were identified as Nayan Kumar Tripura, 70, and Rumati Tripura, 39.
The statement released by officials highlighted the extent of the destruction caused by the heavy rain and storm that struck Tripura in the early hours of April 21. A total of 445 houses were reported to be fully, partially, or severely damaged as a result of the severe weather conditions.
Despite the significant damage caused by the intense rainfall and thunderstorms, major rivers in the region such as Gomati, Muhuri, and Feni are reportedly flowing below flood levels. This news comes as a relief amidst the chaos and destruction caused by the severe weather in Tripura. Authorities are working to provide assistance to those affected and restore normalcy in the region as quickly as possible.
