The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), successfully carried out a joint operation against narcotics smuggling in Tripura. On June 1 morning, the operation led to the recovery of a staggering 70,000 Yaba tablets from a vehicle in Teliamura of Tripura’s Khowai district.
The seized narcotics, with an approximate market value of Rs 7 crore in the international market, were found concealed in a WagonR bearing registration number TR 01-BL-0337. The successful operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in the smuggling activities. The individuals were identified as Shamal Majumdar, a resident of West Tripura, Tripura, and Malaya Debnath, a resident of North Tripura District.
Following their apprehension, the individuals along with the recovered narcotics were handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings. This significant operation highlights the Assam Rifles’ relentless efforts in combating drug trafficking and upholding security in the region.
