The Baloch Liberation Army’s recent attack on a convoy of the Pakistan Army resulting in the death of 90 soldiers has sent shockwaves through the region. The Majeed Brigade, a special forces unit of the Balochistan Liberation Army, claimed responsibility for the deadly assault, according to a report by Dynamite News.
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch boasted that over 90 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack, which occurred in the Naushki area. The BLA has long been advocating for the rights of the Baloch people, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears in Pakistan. The group has also issued warnings to the Pakistani military regarding allowing China to mine on Baloch land for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In addition to the BLA, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has also been active in the region, recently humiliating 50 Pakistani soldiers in Waziristan. The escalating violence in various parts of Pakistan has put the country in a precarious position, with internal conflicts mounting in addition to external threats from India.
Pakistan’s attempts to combat groups like the BLA and TTP have not yielded the desired results, with the death toll of Pakistani soldiers continuing to rise. The belief that Pakistan, with the support of allies like China, Turkey, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), can stand against India is being called into question by the ongoing unrest in the country.
The situation in Balochistan, where the BLA is most active, is particularly volatile. The warning issued by the BLA to China regarding CPEC highlights the complex web of alliances and conflicts at play in the region. As tensions escalate, the future of Pakistan’s stability and security remains uncertain.
