A BJP leader has criticized the Supreme Court, following the Vice President’s remarks, suggesting Parliament should cease functioning if the apex court acts like it is making laws.
Following recent comments by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar questioning the Supreme Court, a BJP leader has further intensified the criticism.
BJP parliamentarian Nishikant Dubey made a critical statement about the Supreme Court on Friday. In a post on X, Dubey said, “Kanoon yadi Supreme Court hi banayega to Sansad Bhavan bund kar dena chahiye (Parliament should be closed down if the Supreme Court has to make the laws).”
Dubey’s statement adds to the ongoing debate about the relationship between the judiciary and the legislature in India. His comments suggest that he believes the Supreme Court is overstepping its boundaries and encroaching on the law-making powers of the Parliament.
This follows Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s recent questioning of the Supreme Court, indicating a growing sentiment within some sections of the ruling party regarding the role of the judiciary.
