The Border Security Force (BSF) has made significant strides in securing Tripura by apprehending a Bangladeshi national and seizing narcotics and contraband worth over Rs 1 crore in a series of successful operations.
On Wednesday, BSF troops detained a Bangladeshi national at Ambassa Railway Station in Dhalai district. The individual, hailing from Rajshahi district in Bangladesh, was caught for illegal infiltration. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the reason for his presence on Indian soil.
In a separate operation, BSF personnel intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Omni vehicle in Sepahijala district based on specific intelligence inputs. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying 7,200 pieces of mobile displays valued at approximately Rs 1.09 crore. The consignment is believed to have been smuggled for illicit cross-border trade.
Additionally, BSF, in coordination with local authorities, conducted house searches in Narayanpur and Babamura villages, resulting in the recovery of 11 kg and 58.5 kg of ganja, respectively. The individuals involved in the illegal trade were arrested during these operations.
A BSF spokesperson emphasized the intensified efforts of the force to combat infiltration, exfiltration, and trans-border crimes both along the international border and in the state’s interior regions. The spokesperson highlighted the strong coordination between BSF and local police as essential in maintaining national security and ensuring public safety.
These recent seizures and arrests underscore the commitment of BSF to safeguarding Tripura from threats posed by illegal activities and unauthorized entry across the border. The vigilant efforts of the security forces aim to create a secure environment for residents and prevent criminal elements from exploiting the region for illicit gains.
